Little Mercies is Crouch End neighbourhood cocktail bar and small plates eatery in Crouch End that’s very much worth venturing out to. It’s owned by a lovely chap called Alan Sherwood, who’s been backed by the Venning brothers, the chaps behind Three Sheets.
I love everything about this place, the people, the drinks and the food. Yes, the food is noteworthy, I’ve had a couple of things here including the ox cheek pastrami with a dollop of burnt onion mustard (has a touch of sweetness like American mustard) rounded off with some pickles; crispy chips and a wonderfully spicy chipotle ketchup.
The crumpet topped with beef mince and blue cheese rarebit in reality ain’t a looker but it sure makes up for it in taste. Their fried egg bun, tomato nduja, potato rosti, applewood, pickles, brioche is a lovely little brunch treat.
The Flower Sour (Marigold, Jasmine, Victory Gin, Lemon, Egg White) is incredibly drinkable – super light and refreshing – the right balance of zesty lemon and sweetness.
The Peach Tea (Silver Tip Tea, Ocho Blanco Tequila, Peach, Clary Sage, Soda) is summer in a tall glass.
At weekends, during the day, it’s usually not busy at all, so if you’re looking for buzzy vibes you won’t get it but come nightfall, it’s busier.
