BANCONE

Smart Casual . Pasta . Bar

Bancone is a pasta bar, just off The Strand, with the closest tubes being Charing Cross and Leicester Sq . The menu at Bancone is concise – a few antipasti; a couple of pasta dishes; and 3 desserts. All the pasta dishes are under £15 and you can get a cacio e pepe for £9. When I went in Mar I had the Mafalde with madeira duck ragu which really hit the spot and I’d certainly re-order. For pudding, I had the Gianduja chocolate brûlée which was very decent. Most recently, I had the native lobster, semi-dried tomato, garlic & chilli with bucatini which was solid. As much as I love Padella, it’s nice to know that I can reserve somewhere that serves up good handmade pasta, at an affordable price, in an attractive, modern setting.
