Breakfast East London

MODERN PANTRY

Sophisticated but laid back brunch spot

LOCATION

Situated in Clerkenwell – this spot opened its doors in 2007. In August of this year, they opened up a new Modern Pantry in Finsbury Square, so they’re expanding but not at rapid pace.

THE SPACE

In a nice bright, modern open space in Clerkenwell; there are two rows of tables, one is long and communal and the other is in a row but made up of individual tables, so as to allow for a slightly more private dining experience. I believe they also have separate dining rooms that are available for private hire.

FOOD & SERVICE

I found this receipt from 2010! So yeah it’s been a while since I’ve been here. However, I remember the experience vividly and it was a fun and a very satisfying brunch. From what I recall all the produce tasted fresh and high quality. We had a couple of lychee bellinis; I ordered the prawn omelette which I remember being very pleasing, followed by an equally good piece of orange cake. Hopefully standards haven’t slipped. They also have an all day dining menu with some interesting sounding dishes. I would like to revisit for sure

VIBE

Modern and laid back. Well it was the last time I was there…

MOOLAH

We had a breakfast plate each, 4 cocktails between us, a hot drink and a cake each which came to about £35 quid a head. The cocktails deffo pushed up the price so I guess one could have a less boozy less expensive brunch here if one wished
