LAST VISITED OCTOBER 2013
My friend knowing me and my love for all things sweet took me to a chocolate shop (Charles Chocolates) nearby her office when I came to visit her during her lunch break.
All the chocolates are made by hand in small batches using traditional techniques. My friend bought me a bunch of stuff including:
* Two chocolate bars: the Salty-Sweet Cashew Bar (dark, rich milk chocolate with freshly roasted whole cashew nuts with a meringue of Fleur de Sel and sugar) and the Toffee Coffee Bar (fresh almond toffee with locally roasted coffee beans). The salt in the former made this bar electric and was my favourite of the two – this is probably quite a biased judgement as I’m not really a coffee fan and just found the flavour of the coffee bean a bit too sharp for my liking
* Chocolate covered nuts: the triple chocolate almonds (organic California almonds coated in a blend of 41% milk chocolate and 65% bittersweet chocolate, then dusted in cocoa powder) came in a tin and are quite simply perfection. A proper brew and a handful of these bad boys and your set
You can taste the quality and care and attention that have gone into Charles Chocolates. Tempted to ship in some more chocolate covered nuts – they were that good.
