Nopa was on the hitlist of places to visit whilst in San Francisco, so when my friend suggested a Monday night dinner there, I willingly obliged.
Being a San Francisco institution, there is always a wait time, even on a Monday evening. They estimated a two hour wait time, so we took to the bar on the ground floor for some drinks. We ended up staying at the bar to eat because of the buzzy vibe and the view of the ever so handsome tattooed mixologist, a dead ringer for Ed Norton.
To start, I had an avocado, caviar and watermelon radish salad that was sublime. For mains, I had the braised duck leg (which fell off the bone and melted in your mouth) on a bed of marinated quinoa and oyster mushrooms. A caramel chocolate moose with shortbread followed – fairly rich but not over powering – sharing with your dining companion is probably a good shout as eating a whole one may be a bit much.
In sum, good food, good view, would certainly revisit.
