Authentic tasty Neapolitan pizzas served with surly service

L’Antica Pizzeria da Michele in Naples founded in 1906 is hailed by some as the best pizza in the world and was made supernova famous by the film Eat Pray Love. Unsurprisingly, it has whipped Londoners into a frenzy since it opened an outpost in Stokey. Starving on a Sunday afternoon – it was the only spot with its kitchen still open, so we joined the queue which moved quickly. Despite having only 2 pizzas on the menu, they somehow got our order wrong and then looked at us like we’d made the mistake. The overall service felt pretty brusque and this probably wouldn’t have bothered me on any other day but I was hangry AF. It made me wonder whether authenticity is really worth all the hype. Don’t get me wrong, I would most definitely head back to L’Antica because the pizzas are undeniably tasty (supreme ingredients and the cheese oh the cheese) but I wouldn’t necessarily trek hours across London to dine here. However, if you’re a Neapolitan pizza purist, it may be worth the trip.
