Duck and Champagne…need I say more?
LOCATION
Canard et Champagne is located in Passage des Panoramas, which has become a bit of a culinary hotspot. The well regarded Racines and Noglu, a gluten free restaurant are also located here. Grands Boulevard metro is close by.
THE SPACE
Traditional on the outside and sleek on the inside. A long communal table occupies the centre of the room on the 1st floor flanked by individual tables with high chairs dotted around the space. There is more seating downstairs in the basement but it was closed the evening we went. Oh and they had lots of duck doodles on the walls of the toilet which was a bit cheesy but charming nonetheless (here’s my duck bias kicking in).
FOOD & SERVICE
A simple ingenious concept, Duck & Champagne – two of my favourite things. For dinner, they’ve got x4 options, price wise:
ENTRÉE + PLAT €26
ENTRÉE + PLAT + 1 COUPE €32
ENTRÉE + PLAT + 2 COUPES €42
ENTRÉE + PLAT + DESSERT + 3 COUPES €62
If you’ve been following me on my food journey, you’ll already be familiar with my duck obsession – I absolutely dig the stuff. So there was no way I was gonna be in Paris and not check this place out. I went with the ENTRÉE + PLAT + 2 COUPES option.
Duck pate and quince with some bread was my choice for starters which was solid – thumbs up.
Went with duck leg and it was cooked to perfection, fell off the bone with a nice bit of fat – dreamy. I got my order with fries which were also fab but stole some veg that someone else had ordered to balance out this heart attack of a meal.
I struggle to not order dessert even when I’m full, so got the group to order x2 to share. A chocolate feast – really rich, dense and delicious.
Service was kind of abrupt but I didn’t really care – I had my duck and champagne and that was good enough for me.
VIBE
We went on a Friday night and it was full. Super buzzy – felt like some people had come straight from work. With the price point and genius concept, I can’t ever see Canard et Champagne being quiet.
MOOLAH
Paris’s answer to Burger and Lobster. Different price points for different pockets. You can go conservative with their €26 option or go large with their €62 euro option. An excellent deal to be had in Paris in my humble opinion. They also do lunch and brunch – check out their website for deets.
