Good upscale Italian fare in affluent South Ken
LOCATION
Daphne’s is a long standing S.Ken institution located about a 5mins walk from the station and round the corner from designer shops on Brompton Road (Chanel, Joseph, Acne, Stella McCartney to name a few)
THE SPACE
The sumptuous decor at Daphne’s is unsurprising considering it is owned by the Caprice Holdings group, who’ve just recently opened the preposterously named but the hottest and most decadent restaurant in town-Sexy Fish. Daphne’s has a lovely conservatory (that can hold up to 40 guests for a private function ) which is where we sat when we came here in the summer.
FOOD & SERVICE
Daphne’s offers Italian fare accompanied with high level service. It’s one of those spots I’d go to if in the area but wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to seek out. When I last visited, I shared a nice plate of grilled prawns (£15.25) with my sister, had a small lobster linguine with chilli and parsley (£16) which was simple but good, a side of spinach (£5.25) to share and three scoops of ice cream (£7.50) between the two of us.
THE VIBE
The crowd on the whole is fairly posh probably due to the area Daphne’s is in. However it’s pretty relaxed and has a nice vibe to it
MOOLAH
It’s not cheap. The bill came to £48 each including service, for a shared starter, a main, shared dessert and a glass of wine.
