LAST VISITED OCTOBER 2013
Back in October when I visited SF, ambling along Haight Street, I popped into the RVCA shop. RVCA is a sort of lifestyle brand influenced partly by skate and surf culture. Founder, PM Tenore wanted to “create a platform for RVCA, which combines art, music, fashion and a modern lifestyle in an original way”.
Integral to this, is RVCA’s Artist Network Program (ANP), which was set up to showcase the work of both established and upcoming artists.
Located within the store is the VASF gallery, where there was an exhibit of Tim Diet and Justin Hager’s work. Loved Hager’s satirical take on pop culture (mostly 80s and 90s) including R Kelly’s Rain Man and Diddy Land. Pure gold.
For a good few years now, Liberty have been doing collaborations with a number of more ‘contemporary’ brands like Nike and Supreme (probably an attempt to tap into a younger, more ‘urban’ demographic) and next up is no other than RVCA. They’ve just released a menswear collection by artist Kelsey Brookes and you can check it out here. No love for the ladies?
