My regz is Gökyüzü which has recently had a makeover. They give you loads of free bread, dips and a delicious colourful salad, so you only ever need to order a main. I came upon Sambal Shiok in 2017 when they had a residency at Blend Cafe on Green Lanes. I initially went on my own where I sampled the Assam laksa and my goodness was I blown away by the flavour; I returned that same week with some pals and we ordered a rice dish, laksa and their Malaysian fried chicken. Whilst I haven’t yet been to Sambal’s permanent site on Holloway Road, I have no hesitation in whole hardheartedly recommending this spot. The passion Mandy has for this place means she’ll never let the standards drop.
If you’re lucky enough to live in Tottenham, then you should do yourself a favour and never cook again because Loven Pizza will fix you up real good. Their Neapolitan style pizza made from Caputo flour, is baked in their on site, wood-fired oven. I love a classic margherita – and theirs is salty, soft…delicious and currently 7 quid. Get some wine and your winning. I’m also a big fan of Yard Sale Pizza in Finsbury Park and I like Sodo Pizza in Clapton.
