I hadn’t been to the Diner in absolute yonks. As you’d expect a diner, it’s a super laid back space in terms of vibe and decor. When I went recently to the one on Curtain Road, I was pleasantly surprised that the burger (had a chicken one) was way better than I remembered it. Oh and they do milkshakes – I always give bonus points for that. No reservations.
Homeslice serves wood fired pizza by the slice (£4) or opt for the 20″ pizzas for £20 which you can go half n half with a pal. They do a few classics but most of the menu is seasonal with interesting toppings. The Shoreditch branch which is the one I’ve been to is fairly large and the decor is simple + stylish – feels hip without trying too hard. They have other spots in Covent Garden + Fitzrovia. Reservations possible for large groups except at CG.
Tasty Caribbean food served in a basic space that doubles up as an underground jazz bar. I hear their hygiene standards are questionable but IDK! Rice, beans, jerk chicken and plantain for £7 – all over it. Lunchtime only.
