Bancone is a smart looking pasta bar, just off The Strand, with the closest tube being Charing Cross. The menu is concise – a few antipasti; a couple of pasta dishes; and 3 desserts. All the handmade pasta dishes are under £15 and you can get a cacio e pepe for £9. attractive, modern setting.

Blacklock is a meat lover’s dream. Stay in budget by opting for a ‘Big Chop’, a side and one of their cocktails for a fiver; or pay a little bit extra and get the ‘All In’ for £20 per person – this gets you pre chop bites (see above) all the ‘Skinny Chops’ available on the day, piled on coal flatbread (superb – having drunk up the juices of the meat) + a side each.
Kebabs| Covent G | Reservations
Maison Bab is by the same lads behind Le Bab in Kingly Court. The kebabs are all under a tenner – get one of them and a G&T (£9) and you’re good to go. For a little extra, you can get some fondue chips which are mega. Even though I prefer the kebabs at Le Bab, I’m always inclined to refer people to Masion Bab instead because it’s a much more comfortable space and to be honest I like the look of it more!
